I like ghosts.

I like history even more.

The best ghost stories are the ones that have a foundation in reality. Sure, you can talk about the old lady who supposedly haunts the cellar of the local bar, but do you know her name? How about the year she died? What historical evidence is there to support her spooky tale?

In my travels around the country, I’ve collected dozens of locally-published volumes of ghostly lore. I’ll pick out some of the most interesting stories and dig deeper, looking for the real people behind American mythology.

Now, whether or not the ghosts are real – I’ll let you decide that for yourself.
